Education
It seems that a new book, study, or
article on the decline of the American education system
is published on a weekly basis. With all that we
have achieved in America—all of the resources,
knowledge, expertise, and wealth—it is painfully
shocking that our children’s education performance
is no longer leading the world. We risk losing our
edge in math, science, and engineering—keys to
our country’s ability to remain competitive, lead,
and innovate for the world and create opportunity for all
in our country. There is so much talent and commitment
to purpose in education that this can and must be fixed. The
impact of a less than first class education system may
lead to a reality not before seen in the history of the
US. We, as a nation, are too good for that.
To teach is to give. The Baldrige framework for
education is powerful guidance for every school district
and school of higher learning. There is always greater
potential and the most direct and sustaining path is through
the Baldrige criteria. Baldrige recipients in the
education category produce outstanding results despite
varied, numerous and seeming insurmountable challenges.
When it comes to the future of our children there are no
excuses. |
